Peer
Support means sharing our personal knowledge from daily life experiences.
The benefits are many and sometimes surprising. Connecting with peers
can help solve problems, opening doors that seemed formidable. Information
about disability supports, assistive devices and adaptive technology are
only a beginning. The centre also offers a welcoming environment with
opportunities to learn new skills and to find assistance in accessing
social programs such as housing, transport and health services.
Simply
sharing a different approach to a problem in a casual way can make a real
difference. Confidence and empowerment flow from a new shared awareness.
The
majority of our board and staff live with disabilities every day and can
truly understand and respond to the needs of our members and the community.
