A
Computer
program to bridge
the
communications
gap...

The
DRC offers at-home computer lessons to persons who are unable to attend
classes at the Centre
due to mobility issues.
Persons
with isolating disabilities are truly cut off. Since the fall of 2009,
the NRDRC has provided one to one instruction in students' homes on their
own computers, without fees. (*Students contribute a nominal amount toward
their tutor's mileage costs to visit)
When
our trained senior
tutors visit, they listen to your needs and goals, look at your computer
set up and create a plan just for you. At least six tutoring
sessions may include:
basic computer skills
document
creation, processing and printing
Internet searching, saving, communication features
email and attachments
assistive device and software information
Our
Computer Programs are student-centred. Personal success is the foundation
of our day-to-day activities. For people with disabilities, having good
computer skills can open doors previously closed and help to overcome
barriers to independence.
